Why Clean Carpets and Upholstery Matter to the Health of Your Family
Love it or hate it, we’re over half way through the “glorious” Great British Summer! I’m sure that there’s a million and one things still to do before the last of the summer rays are all but a distant memory and kids are back to school but there’s one critical health buster that you have to know.
Major Health Focus:
Whether it’s us Brits or our American cousins, we now spend 87-90% of our time indoors! Our carpets impact everything from our daily hygiene to indoor air quality. Dirty carpets can lead to:
- Respiratory issues
- Allergy and skin flare ups
- Weakened Immune systems
- Mental health
Although this can have a truly epic impact on our lives, recent surveys suggest that 41% of Britons have NEVER had their carpets cleaned. In addition, those that have had their carpets cleaned don’t realise the vast improvements a properly cleaned carpet can have on their lives.
Clean Carpets: Not Just for Show
Clean carpets are AMAZING! Studies have shown that clean carpets:
- Reduce Stress, compared to wooden or tiled flooring
- Absorb air pollution and grime, when properly cleaned
- Improve concentration
That clean carpet feel is more than just a novelty. Research shows that walking on soft carpet helps to alleviate stress. In addition, in the home and in schools carpets help to reduce noise, which aids concentration. AND if this wasn’t enough, clean carpets have been found to reduce harmful particulates in the air!
The Consequences of Dirty Carpets
Without proper care, a carpet can hold up to 4 times its own weight in dirt – for those of you that have had the pleasure of lugging the stuff around I’m sure you can imagine just how much that is!
In addition to the rigmarole of everyday life, research shows that 3 in 4 of us wear shoes around our homes. Everything we blissfully walk through outside can be traipsed through our house, our dining rooms, our bedrooms and our bathrooms.
Studies have found that E Coli and bacteria (that can cause salmonella) can be found in our carpets!
And for those of us that love our furry friends around the house, these risks can be brought to a whole new height. Unfortunately, as much as we love our pets so, too, do fleas and mites.
It’s no wonder that, with so much of our time being spent in doors, that we’re suffering with a rise of asthma, eczema.
Cleaning Your Carpets Can Save You Money!
If you’re anything like myself, the threat of buying expensive new carpets is enough to send shivers down your spine BUT there is a cheaper way to make your home look like new!
Carpet cleaning is the name of the game and it’s a lot cheaper than buying & fitting new carpets!
The industry best, and my personal favourite method, is our hot water extraction cleaning for a deep clean you can’t achieve through vacuuming or steam cleaning!
