I’ve done a couple of jobs this week which have highlighted the dangers of using or misusing carpet cleaning products.
In the first picture above are the remains of a stain that had been treated by the householder with a selection of stain removal products available from the supermarket. The stain was caused when her young son took fake coals out of the gas fire and put them on the carpet. The coals were covered in a soot from the burning gas and this left black deposits on the very light coloured carpet. Efforts to clean partially worked but the cleaners couldn’t deal properly with the soot and left the above stain that was now fixed into the carpet. Also, all of these cleaners contain some form of bleaching agent to enhance their effects. By using more and more product this eventually has caused some bleaching to the carpets.
Using a numbers of products from my Spot and Stain kit I was able to remove the remains of the stain as you can see in the second photo, but unfortunately I could do nothing for the bleaching as that is now permanently damaged.
In the above picture the black stains are caused by misuse and overuse of a cleaning product. In this case neat carpet shampoo was used to deal with a dog urine issue. Whilst initially this seemed to work what has then happened is that dirt has been attracted to the detergent and eventually the carpets looked as in the first photo. I was able to clean using our detergent free cleaning methods and get the carpets back to normal.
Don’t forget that with every clean by The Rutland Cleaning Company you get a free bottle of our professional spotter that will ensure that these sort of problems don’t happen to you.
