Despite stone floors looking the opposite they’re actually made up of organic materials that have microscopic ‘interslices’, which liquid or air can pass through.

So, whilst hard floors look as though they need very little upkeep other than with a mop and bucket or a broom, they do need a little bit of TLC once in a while.
How do stone floors get stained?
Over time, dirt, soil and liquids work their way into the tiny interslices within your hard floor. Once embedded, it can be very difficult to remove them with an ordinary mop and hot soapy water. As months and years pass, your stone floor will look darker, have more stained areas and lose its natural colour and brilliance.
However, there is an easy solution! I take special care to treat all my customers hard and stone floors with very specific cleaning methods. Using professional cleaning equipment, I can carefully remove deep stains and marks without damaging your floor or making the marks look worse.
I only use cleaning and sealing solutions that are kind to the environment and those that don’t leave a nasty residual smell in your home. From a deep clean to restoring an old floor or creating a mirror finish polish, I can clean all natural stone, ceramic and vinyl floors. And depending on your requirements, I can give your stone floors the style of finish that you want: high gloss, mid sheen or natural.
How to remedy a stained stone floor
It’s important to know how to treat the entire floor and not leave any patches untreated. My experience has taught me how to achieve an excellent finish whilst ensuring a fast turnaround so there’s minimum disruption to you and your family.
Once all areas of your stone floor are cleaned, it’s important to use a professional sealant to ensure that your floor remains clean for as long as possible. Sealing also helps to protect the surface of your floor from scratches and further staining.
How often should I seal my stone floors?
Ideally, stone floors should be professionally cleaned and sealed at least once a year to keep them in tip top shape. However, it does depend on how busy your home is and whether you have any pets. Many people don’t realise that their stone floors can be brought back to their former glory and are amazed by the results I can achieve.
